I don't know if this matters to anyone, but with this option, Yahoo also excludes current unsigned free agents and some (but not all) players that have only minor league contracts. A list of current unsigned free agents can be found here: www.mlbtraderumors.com/2007/12/2009-mlb-free-a.html

While we're at this, I guess at least this part of my input on the matter (taken from the other thread) deserves reposting here: [If we use the "wait..." option,] Yahoo apparently excludes all the imminently coming top prospects from our draft as well (until they are officially called up during the regular season). I just did a quick check to see what top prospects (from Baseball America's top prospects list) would've been included in the draft pool that are not currently included (w/ the "wait..." option). Of the top 30 I checked, I spotted these additions (when the "wait..." option is turned off): * Matt Wieters * Tommy Hanson * Brett Anderson * Neftali Feliz * Trevor Cahill * Lars Anderson * Rick Porcello * Chris Tillman * Brian Matusz * Matt LaPorta * Jarrod Parker Does seem kinda odd that they would include certain of them who are not likely to get called up until late in the season, if at all. *BUT* maybe that's a good thing, if we want to go that route, since there's far less likelihood of a top youngster showing up unexpectedly at midseason. It's interesting to note that they didn't include Pedro Alvarez (nor Gordon Beckham or Justin Smoak) in there though. ... Perhaps, what we should do in this league is provide a couple freely available resource links to help team owners be more informed about top youngsters. That would probably help some [regardless of which option we use]. I just included the Baseball America list above (and the site has various other freely available lists), and I think Rotoworld.com keeps a big list somewhere also. Baseball Prospectus has another one that I use.Project Prospect is another newer prospecting site that provides such lists that may be of interest (in large part for the extra, somewhat different perspective that leans more heavily on analyzing minor league stats than some others). There are various other interesting sites for this stuff of course. But most of the rest do not generally provide (freely available) prospect ranking lists, and you may or may not be inclined to delve that deeply in this stuff to check beyond a few such lists.

I'm not sure anyone here needs more prospect resources - this isn't kids stuff we're playing here. I mean, in the interests of fairness it's great, but I think we're all qualified enough to know - even me. ;D
I voted an overwhelming "No".

I mean, in the interests of fairness it's great, but I think we're all qualified enough to know - even me. ;D Hehheh. Just wanted to alleviate any concerns is all ;D since this league doesn't generally delve into prospecting beyond the handful of youngsters that show up on Yahoo. Yeah, some of us do play in other leagues that involve a fair amount of prospecting. But maybe some newer (or potentially new) team owners haven't done much of that yet. Anyhoo, looks like we'll probably end up going for the old way of not waiting -- it's what we've always had before anyway, and Yahoo's more advanced, preseason inclusion of top prospects in the past couple years do make this less of a problem now. I'll give this poll til 1am ET tonight to see if anyone else chimes in to the contrary -- that way, people still have all of tomorrow to commit their drop lists w/ knowledge of this decision. If it doesn't look like anyone else objects, I'll switch it back to no waiting.
