The MLB regular season officially begins much earlier than usual on 3/22 (Saturday early morning our time), so if we really want to get the draft done before then, we'll need to pick a date/time before that.
HOWEVER, we're only talking about a 2-game series between the Dodgers and DBacks followed by a full week of nothing scheduled. And all the quality MLB-level players on both teams should be taken in the "slow" draft by then leaving maybe just a few RPs and backup/support players (and maybe prospects) available from them, so it's probably not imperative that we complete the overall Draft by then -- if team owners are so inclined, they can always give draft priority to such players in the "slow" draft as we approach that day.
The above times are suggested for the poll to give us as much time as possible to run the "slow" portion of the Draft (for the more critical rounds) before going "live" (for the later rounds) while still trying to go for a time that works for most everyone.
Please note that, if necessary, you can submit a prioritized proxy list for me or one of the other team owners to make proxy picks on your behalf. Highly recommended if you're not too sure you can make the "live" draft.
You may vote for as many choices as preferable and/or workable for you -- you may also retract/change your vote as you find need.

I am going to be pretty involved with leagues for March Madness the next couple of weekends. If we could do it on a weeknight, that'd be ideal for me. I'm going to be in Mexico for work next week, so I'm not sure if I'll even have a connection or not.
Just my two cents. I know I'm "new guy", so if it ends up being another night, I'll do my best to try and be available.

No need to rush this Yahoo allows for the Stats to be added for those games even if we are still drafting

Ok, I voted for 5 times. All were after the start of the season. Besides the face that we can make the stats retroactive, are we even going to be done with the slow portion of the draft before the 22nd?

Slow portion will go until the start of the live draft. So if live is after 22nd then the slow will go beyond the 22nd.
My only question is can we retroactively count those games because I thought yahoo considered our league live and wont the teams who already have Dodgers or Dbacks be getting points?

I don't believe we can do retro on the 3/22 stats because Yahoo technically thinks we're done w/ the "draft".
However, it probably won't matter since most any worthwhile players (for that 2-game series) on the Dodgers and DBacks will likely be taken in the slow draft by then. If nobody thinks certain players are worth taking in time for the 2-game series, then will they really contribute significantly to this year's standings? Not too likely me thinks. In any case, plenty of players sit in FA all the time w/ a chance to contribute, but are generally not considered worthwhile enough during substantial stretches, if not most/all season long, so...

Also, do realize that the "live" draft will take longer to run if we have more picks to work through. For those who haven't done it in this league before, it's not an exact science getting it moving along quickly. It can easily take 3-plus hours depending on how many picks we need to do and whether there are no-shows who neglected to provide their own prioritized picks lists (and possibly forcing me to keep track and figure them out as we go)...

Can the ones who voted for this Wed/Thurs (3/19-20), but not next Wed/Thurs (3/26-27) contact me (whether privately or publicly)?
All else being equal, it's most likely better to hold off the extra week to let the slow draft run some more, but I'd like to know if I'm missing something that counters that thinking, including whether the different voters actually have all that many picks to make.
Thanks.

I will be flying back on business on 3/26. I voted for 3/19, 3/20, and 3/27; basically I can't do 3/23-3/26 so I'm voting for everything that's not that.

I'm in Mexico right now on business. Next week just works better for me, that's all. I could theoretically draft tomorrow night, but WIFI is spotty at my hotel. Not sure I could participate 100%. I had a march madness draft last night and Skype wasn't working for me on my ipad because of the wifi issues.
So yea, next week just fit my schedule better.

Seems like next week will be best.
For those who can accommodate next Thurs evening (3/27), can you go ahead and vote for it as well, if you haven't already?
OR if you can let me know more (whether privately or publicly), that would be helpful.
Thanks.

Did we decide on a draft day/time?

Anyone w/ objections to making it Thurs night?
Haven't really heard from anyone else to suggest Thurs wouldn't be just as good as Wed -- and that would give us 1 extra day for the slow draft.
Let me know asap OTOH if Wed night is much better for you than Thurs, particularly if you will be picking pretty much every round starting from circa round 18 or so. At this point, looks like that's where we'll be come Thurs night.
Otherwise, I'd like to tentatively go w/ Thurs night.

So, how does the draft work? Are we doing this via yahoo instant messenger? Thursday night I will be in a remote location for a bachelor party. It's in a cabin in the woods, but having said that, there are 100's of satellite TV stations. I don't know if they have WIFI or not, but I assume I won't be getting a 3G signal out there. If the draft is Thursday, I'll just prepare a list for MAN to make picks off of.

The "live" draft will use Yahoo IM to run a conference chat... basically to replace what we've been doing here on this thread (for the "slow" draft) -- IM's needed for quicker updates/response times.
You'd still need to make adds on Yahoo just like now as well.

Heard from one voter who picked Wed instead of Thurs, and apparently, things changed and it won't matter in his case -- he didn't have many picks anyway.
So let's just settle on Thurs night then.

BTW, Big Will, if you want and can text from that location, maybe I can try keeping you up-to-date via text.
Still best if you provide me instructions (and ideally, a priority list) for proxy picks of course.
And the extra day of slow drafting will hopefully knock out 1 more round before the live draft making it less of an issue for those who cannot make it...

OK, sounds good. I'll try to get a list together tonight.
Hopefully I can make the draft though. We'll see. I just hope I have a wifi connection for my phone.
