There are several SPs I would have taken before prior. In this case however, i would have simply skipped him and gone to the next name on the list whoever that may have been.
But that's just my opinion and I'm speaking as one who expects little or nothing from Prior this year.
My original comment was meant as nothing more than a suggestion.

Prior is a potential free agent at the end of 2008, so he may not be of long term help even if he regains all his pitches and stays healthy.

Since choices are starting to get iffy at this point (and not everyone liked the Prior pick ;D), I will give Naps/Jason more time before deciding on what to do next w/ his picks. I've emailed him another update along w/ some of my thoughts on what might make decent picks at this point. And I plan on waiting until tomorrow around noon or so EST before deciding, if he still doesn't follow up by then.
In the meantime, please do feel free to offer suggestions on what should be done while we wait though skipping his picks would not be a real option in case you're wondering. ;D Thanks...

Anyone w/ suggestions? I still haven't heard anything back from Jason yet (in over a week now). I guess I could go ahead and make his 2 picks in a little bit (and risk being lynched for my choices ;D), but I'm open to any solid suggestions as well...

Since he has not been heard from in a week despite your best efforts, I would say that it should be ok for you to keep picking for him at this point. Prior was a little iffy, but not completely outrageous, and can turn out to be the steal of the draft if he is healthy.

maybe go by the highest O ranked player on yahoo?? That would probably be worse than letting me be the judge at this point. ;D The Yahoo O-Rank was ok for the first few picks, but goes downhill quickly since it doesn't factor in keeper issues and isn't based on our points system.

Well, Yahoo O-Rank would pick Chipper Jones next, which I guess I can sorta live w/ -- and Jason will just have to pray that CJ stays healthier these next couple years. But I can't see taking Corey Patterson after that for Naps. If it's CJ for one pick, then I'm inclined to take a good 3B youngster to pair w/ CJ. Thing is it's just hard to imagine that Naps will contend in 2007 (even if Naps end up w/ all of the solid veterans the rest of the way), so CJ's a bit of a lameduck.
Thoughts?

I really can't advise, as I'm up next. Chipper isn't a bad pick, as he's quality when he's healthy - it's just staying healthy that's the problem. There are a lot of 3Bs out there, who could be drafted later on to pair with Chipper.
And there's a ton of talent still on the board - just go with what you think is best. That's what I do in my own keeper league...

I think you should do whatever you think is best also. But considering you haven't heard from him in a while, it may be best to figure out some way (yahoo, cheatsheet, etc.) to pick for him and keep the draft going. Just my .02. Not sure though since so new to the league.

Alrighty then. Under the circumstance, let me go out on some limbs and take these 2 for Naps so we can move forward: #20. Jason Schmidt, SP, LA Dodgers -- since I already went first w/ the SP picks for Naps (and have been taking everyday players so far w/ an outside shot at contention), why not go for another good SP that could have decent trade value even though he's not as young anymore #21. Brandon Wood, 3B/SS, LA Angels -- ok, this is admittedly the opposite direction from Schmidt, but hey, he seems too good to pass up given all the other iffy choices ;D Let the lynching begin...

Alright. Still nothing from Jason, so I'll keep on picking (and not wait), so we can get as much done before the live draft as possible:
#28. Austin Kearns, RF, Washington Nationals
#29. Ramon Hernandez, C, Baltimore Orioles
